Founded to address the unique challenges facing coastal fishing communities, Abayaaba Porch Light Foundation is dedicated to enhance safety, promoting environmental care, and fostering empowerment through education and community-driven initiatives. Why We Exist

Abayaaba Porch Light Foundation was established to transform traditional leadership into practical community action.
Across many coastal communities, families face preventable loss of life at sea, limited access to safety education, environmental degradation, unemployment, health inequalities and restricted opportunities for women and young people. These interconnected challenges require more than short-term assistance—they require trusted local leadership, collaboration and sustainable solutions.
As Obaatanhemaa (Queen Mother) of Ekumfi Otuam, our Founder holds a traditional responsibility that extends far beyond ceremonial duties. Within Ghana's traditional governance system, an Obaatanhemaa serves as the mother of the community—a guardian of its welfare, an advocate for vulnerable people and a custodian of community development.
Abayaaba Porch Light Foundation was created as the practical vehicle through which this traditional responsibility could be fulfilled. It provides a platform to mobilise partnerships, attract resources, strengthen local capacity and deliver programmes that improve lives while preserving the dignity, culture and resilience of the communities we serve.
